Thanksgiving Weekend

Although not over yet, I have had a great Thanksgiving so far. Best way to tell you about it is through the photos we took...

We went to my parents house in Dewitt for dinner. Everyone was able to make it except for my Sister in Law, Dr. Bethie. She stayed down in Memphis due to her hectic work schedule. She sure was missed. (we think she is the only one that can control her husband)

My brother Dave & I had the honor of carving the two Turkeys for the feast.

This year we all chipped in and helped out in the kitchen...well, most of us did.

Carved like a professional...move over Emeril & Bobby Flay!

Later in the day, Will and Monaca (rhymes with Binaca...I think) came over to visit. Jon had to make sure he was all dressed up to meet her.

This is Will and his "friend" Monaca. She met the entire Kurt Klan today. Her quote about the entire Kurt experience is, "The Kurt family, hands down, was an amazing group of people. Very kind, warm and sarcastic as hell, which is one of the best combinations around." That sums it up pretty well.
Later we drove up to St. John's to Aunt Penny & Uncle Bob's house to visit with the Malesky side of the family. By the time we get there, dinner is finished and they are starting on dessert. In addition, the Manhattans and Captain & Cokes are flowing. We then begin to solve General Motors' problems and debate rising healthcare costs in America among the bigger topics. This typically ends up in a free-for-all and becomes very LOUD. Later, Rob brought out the Jones Soda Holiday Pack...This consists of Turkey and Gravy, Herb Dressing, Brussel Sprouts, Cranberry and Pumpkin Pie POP!!!! Most were really awful. We paid Kris' cousin Jerry $10.00 to drink a mixture of all of these sodas. He did it.

On Friday we went to look for a Christmas Tree. My sister Susan decided that we should find a new place to get our tree. She chose Peacock Road Tree Farm. The farm was fun. The kids had a great time looking at all the animals in the petting zoo. They had Peacocks, Llamas, Pigs, Turkeys, Pygmie Goats and many other farm animals. The problem came when we found out that to pay for all the "free" stuff, they charged an arm and a leg for their trees. Once we got out into the woods and looked at the price tags for the trees, we decided to head on back to my parents house. They were charging about $65.00 for a 6 foot Frasier Fir Tree.

Later we decided to go to our old standby tree farm Tannenbaum Farms, near Okemos. We have probably purchased our Christmas Tree from there 11 of the last 14 years that we have been married. Their prices are reasonable and the service is great. There is no petting zoo, but the have two reindeers. We paid about $44.00 for a beautiful Frasier Fir.
